Engine Idle Speed

 

The engine idle speed should be checked (and adjusted, if necessary) with the engine up to operating temperature. All other engine related periodic maintenance adjustments should be within specification prior to adjusting the engine idle speed.

 

SAFETY FIRST: Protective gloves and eyewear are recommended at this point.

 

Start the engine and let it warm to regular operating temperature. Stop the engine.

 

Shift the transmission into neutral, and connect a tachometer.
